It was 3 years ago this month- Sardar Jarnail Singh Journalist threw his shoe at the Indian Home Minister – in connection with the zero justice given to Delhi widows of November 1984 Pogroms.
The world media after 25 years took notice again of what occured in November 1984 with Sikhs in Delhi.
As a result of Jarnail Singh actions and media pressure, India’s Parliament and the Indian Prime Minste…r, for the first time discussed the inquiries held so far in connection with the Sikh massacre in Delhi and their outcomes.
CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) was then ordered to file a case against the guilty who murdered Sikhs in Delhi. A few days ago the final arguments were heard in the case. The CBI has given credible evidence, and stated “There was a conspiracy of terrifying proportion with the complicity of police and patronage of local MP Sajjan Kumar”
For his actions Jarnail Singh, sacrificed his job and put himself and his family in the front-line of harassment. However it can be argued that if the shoe was not thrown, discussion of November 1984 in Indian Parliament may never have happened and the above mentioned words by the CBI, may never have been uttered in court.
