To mark the 550th Gurpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the saviour of all humanity, his followers will be organising special samagams/programs around the world in the coming year of 2019. However, one of the most significant of these will be the ascendance of countless disciples, in the form of Nagar Kirtans from countless towns and cities to the most sacred place of all, Sultanpur Lodhi where Guru Nanak Dev Ji made the most remarkable achievements and progress in human history.
Throughout his life Guru Nanak Dev Ji very successfully fulfilled his role as a prophet of the people by vehemently opposing the use of alcohol and drugs, selfish thinking and any actions or rituals that had very negative outcomes for the people around him or humanity and all living beings in general. For this reason, throughout this period of celebration and remembrance, marking the half centenary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the city of Sultanpur Lodhi should be free from shops selling meat, alcohol, tobacco and narcotic drugs in general by way of a complete ban.
The need to keep the religious appearance and undercurrent of this holy city is not only the responsibility of the religious organisations but also the Punjab Government and district administration too.
