Srinagar, June 19: The chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Tuesday demanded that the Chattisinghpora massacre should be probed into by some international institution and those involved in it should be punished.
“The innocent members of Sikh community were brutally killed at the time when the then US president was visiting New Delhi. The massacre was carried out to mislead the international community about the Kashmir movement and link it with terrorism,” said Geelani while interacting with a delegation of Sikh Students’ Federation that visited his Hyderpora residence today. The Federation delegation was led by its president Paramjeet Singh.
Geelani, according to Hurriyat statement, said the Kashmir was not any communal war but an issue of broken promises. “The uncertainty will continue to prevail in the subcontinent until the Kashmir issue is resolved,” he said, adding that “It is our religious duty to respect all minorities in JK including Sikhs. We support the struggle of Punjab Sikhs for their rights.”
