Jathedar Kalwant Singh Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib released a message that all Sikhs around the world must plant a tree on the occasion of the Sikh Environment Day. Sikhs around the world are celebrating Sikh Environment Day on 14 March this year. The day marks the new year in the Sikh calendar and the Gurgaddi Diwas (enthronement day) of sixth Guru Sri Guru Har Rai Ji. Guru Har Rai, known to have been a great humanitarian, is remembered in Sikh history for his deep sensitivity to nature and its preservation and the well-being of animals. He maintained an extensive herbal garden for medicinal purposes in Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab.
