Jalandhar: Dissensions within BJP in Punjab notwithstanding, the party hopes to repeat the 2007 performance and is eying contesting 23 assembly seats, not necessarily in all the ones it contested the last time around. Hoping to turn around sagging morale of party men, BJP leaders through the week have been gearing up for making the Saturday Jan Vishwas Maha Rally here a success.
Leader of the coalition government and chief minister Prakash Singh Badal, BJP president Nitin Gadkari, leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj, senior vice president Shanta Kumar, BJP general secretary JP Nadda and others are expected to address the rally on Saturday. BJP sources disclosed that in a bid to repeat the 2007 electoral performance, the party was likely to contest on 23 seats and may swap two to three seats with SAD as part of an electoral adjustment for putting up the candidates with winning ability on all seats.
