Kapurthala: Congress candidate Rana Gurjit Singh from Kapurthala constituency has been served a show cause notice for violating the model code of conduct during a road show on January 10.
The Returning Officer has asked the Congress candidate to reply within 48 hours, failing which action would be taken against him, Assistant Returning officer Arvinder Singh said on Thursday.
He said a video recording showed Rana going to file his nomination papers at the centre in an open truck along with a sea of supporters which caused traffic jams at many places in the city.

SAD candidate Sarabjit Singh Makkar apparently took out a similar road show and reached the centre to file his nomination papers on Wednesday. The administration would take action after receiving video evidence against him, he added.
Frequent traffic jams were witnessed in the city during the road shows carried by Congress and SAD candidates in the city.
